The entire family participates in a series of eight, hour and a half sessions.
Three groups are formed to allow for hands-on, age-appropriate activities at each session: La Familia, for adults Los niños, for children ages 3-7
Los chicos, for children ages 8-12
Every session reinforces four key messages:
Eat foods from each of the food groups every day.
Be sensible about portions.
Be physically active every day.
Take small steps for success.
Every session provides experiences and tips that promote:
Healthier food choices compatible with the lifestyle and cuisine of Latino families.
Fun physical activities for the entire family.
Discussion on the concept of “energy balance.”
Cultural heritage and lifestyle connections to wellness.

NLCI would also like to acknowledge our newest partner, Aetna Foundation for its generous support in the fight against childhood obesity. Their efforts will allow us to take the program into new communities.
